Coast Guard and Marine Art site. Our site was created several years ago and has steadily evolved into a respected marine painting web site with nearly 25,000 visitors to date. Dick has been published nationally and his art is in collections throughout the U.S. and overseas. We appreciate your support and continuing comments.

Through your comments and suggestions Dick has created a wonderful array of Coast Guard Art, which takes one from the present back to the days of the Revenue Cutter Service. Besides being able to depict the feeling of life at sea his research is meticulous and time consuming. Each painting is thoroughly researched including, where possible, talking to those involved. ARTIST STATEMENT -

As a self taught artist who has lived the seafaring life, I am not encumbered by formal art schooling or techniques. I am thus able to experiment and paint freely without fear of criticism and to convey my feelings through the medium. As a child viewing Winslow Homer's Gulf Stream, and later in the fine maritime art of Carl Evers, my interest has been nestled in the seafarers way of life. It seems that I've come full circle, as the passion for painting realistic marine art has intensified. There are times, with brush in hand that I am completely consumed by the moment, hearing each creak of the hull, and feeling the rise of the swells as well as the damp fragrance of the early morning fog.
